| My original intention when I got to Berkeley was to apply for the amazing undergraduate business program they had at the Haas School of Business but over these two years, I'm beginning to doubt myself.
In order to get into the school, you need: 1. Extraordinarily high GPA (and an A in UGBA10...and a 4.0) 2. To be in a involved in many extracurricular activities 3. A well-written application to Haas School of Business
Seeing as how my grades were completely fucked because of UGBA10 freshmen year and a job that started at 4 a.m., I was beginning to doubt whether or not I should apply sophomore year. Well I could be saved in the extracurricular as well as application areas, right? (or maybe I shouldn't have been so stupid and found a different job)
well, first off...
One point I need to make about college business clubs: COMPLETE BULLSHIT Spending four years in high school, completely immersed in extracurricular activities, challenging classes, and later on a job, I have come to appreciate the value of time. My time is worth A LOT... All the business clubs on Berkeley's campus, however, do not understand that. I looked at several "professional" business fraternities and they can be described in one adjective, "BULLSHIT." Complete and utter, bullshit! Somehow, I do not find being intoxicated and swimming in the grass at 4 in the morning looking for pins that fraternity members threw in is a valuable way to spend my time. Is it suppose to build peer relationship? Teamwork? It certainly doesn't sound like its building peer relationship while your "mentors" are gawking at you while you are searching through the freezing cold night looking for some pins in a field of grass. I refuse to ever be a part of that.
So what now? I'm fucked in extraordinarily high grades. Fucked in extracurricular activities.
I might as well write a bullshit application telling them how fucked up this public institution is. UC Berkeley is SUPPOSE to be a public institutions that allows all students to obtain the knowledge they want. How is it that limiting kids to their business school compatible with the ideals of a PUBLIC INSTITUTION. There are students who work hard in school and have to work long hours outside of school to pay for their tuition. To pay for rent. To pay for at least 2 meals a day. Its fucking ridiculous that because of this and their lack of "extracurricular activities" that are business related could only lead you farther away from the opportunities that a public institution provides.
I am so disappointed
Economics it is... (and an application to the school of business that I will enjoy writing) |

| I got an email from Xanga and in the subject line it said "Xanga misses you!" .....So I felt inclined to come back and revisit Xanga. This entire place is confusing!! Took me 10 minutes to finally be able to post this weblog!
anyways as for updates, Still have my crazy roommate but I like her more over time, even when she forgets to put the sock on the door. This new semester is a lot better than last semester. I have made better friends and cool coworkers. Also all my professors are coherent and I feel there is still hope for me!
I still miss everyone back at home. Everything is much different here. No more late movie nights at Alex Hatt's house or spending so much time at Chris' house that his mom is buying me slippers!!
That's all the update for now!
